Events and Happenings
While our community is small, there are always a variety of happenings and events going on in Augusta, Montana. Spring brings a cowboy poetry event, bird migrations at Freezeout Lake and auctions. There's also lots going on during the summer, including abundant outdoor recreation offerings and events like Augusta Rodeo Weekend, Fourth of July and the Kids' Fishing Derby. Our area is a major gateway to outdoor adventures, including fishing local lakes and rivers, hitting area hiking trails or setting out on horseback trail rides. Fall brings colorful foliage and hunting, while winter is known for Christmas Rendezvous and the ice fishing derby.

The Most Scenic Route Between Glacier and Yellowstone National Parks
For many visitors to Montana, road trips are the most popular way to explore our expansive state. And if you're visiting Big Sky Country, chances are you plan to visit Yellowstone National Park and Glacier National Park. If you're looking for the most scenic route between the parks, plan to cruise through the heart of our Old West town of Augusta, Montana. ​
New for this year, there is no vehicle reservation or timed entry for Glacier National Park. However, there are limitations around parking at Logan Pass. For the 2026 season, there is a time limit of 3 hours for parking at Logan Pass. Learn more here.

Walk our Main Street, swing into local shops, grab a bite to eat and spend the night at our local motel or vacation rentals. Augusta is also a major gateway to the Bob Marshall Wilderness Complex and there are numerous lakes, campgrounds, trails and waterfalls within easy reach of town.
